Ms Noriko Adachi, Manager, General Affairs Dept  presided at the meeting. Ms. Andit Rosalie Castro from Philippine, now studying Japanese language at AIRA Japanese class,  proudly declared the opening of the meeting.
To begin with,  Mr. Hideaki Satoh, President of AIRA greeted stating that as the number of foreign residents living in Abiko has been growing and now close to 2000 as of this date, the function of, and expectation to AIRA are getting higher and higher. Under this circumstance, AIRA is supposed to play lot more important role in future. Mayor Junichiro Hoshino (concurrently,Honorary President of AIRA) stated that nowadays we see lots of foreign
people on the streets in Abiko as a daily matter.  In this regard, AIRA which is helping those foreign residents with different language and culture, is really a dependable and indispensable organization for them. In the same way,there was the speech given by Mr.Yukio Shiina, Chairperson of Abiko City Assembly as well as Adviser to AIRA.
After that, discussion and deliberation on today’s  agenda set in and Mr. Satoh, President took the chair for this session.
Agenda 1. : 「Evaluation on business plan for FY2017」
Ms.Kitajima, Vice President reported results of the business performance on total AIRA, together with the individual results of each department.(*As for the details, please refer to “Data of General Assembly of FY2018” Same for the under mentioned)
She specified that there was no student this year taking part in the project of Global Volunteer,which has been long lasting program since 2013, due to curriculum change of Chiba Univ. Also the project of “Foreign students are our teacher” was cancelled as of March 31, 2018 due to the reason of supporting
organization “International Understanding Promotion
Association”
Agenda 2 : 「Accounting Statement for FY2017」
Mr. Isamu Yoda, Accountant, made a report on the financial status for the year. He pointed out the membership had declined and the number of students attending the foreign language classes was also decreasing, which made AIRA’s financial position unfavorable.
Agenda 1 & 2 were deliberated and approved collectively.
Agenda 3 : 「Re.Election of executive committee members」
According to AIRA’s regulation, this year is for electing new executive committee members for the next term. The proposal for new executives was presented by Mr. Satoh,Chairman. And upon examination and consideration thereto ,it was agreed and approved as proposed. Taking over Mr.Satoh,Mr.Yasuhiko Hesaki was appointed as the new President of AIRA and concurrently he will serve as manager of Volunteer Activity Dept. .(Refer to the following “List of new executive committee members”)

Agenda 4  「Business Plan for FY2018(proposal) 」
Mr. Hesaki, newly appointed President, took the chair from this session onward. Mr. Murakoshi, Vice President made an overall explanation with regard to the new business plan for FY2018.
There is no much change from the one for FY2017, except that there will be a new program of “How to teach Japanese” which will take place every other year.Then, every manager made presentation on his own department.
Agenda 5.  「Budget plan for FY2018」 by Mr. Yoda, Accountant.
Due to the fact that the number of students to foreign language classes has been decreasing in recent years, the revenue of FY 2018 was estimated down to Yen15,033,294, which is approx..Yen 2 million less than the previous year’s. To cope with this severe financial position, the budget plan was comprehensively reviewed again which resulted in extremely tight and stringent plan.
The financial reserve required for business continuation could not be secured because of this short revenue.
Agenda 4 & 5 have been examined and approved all together.
As sated above, all agenda have been duly approved as per the proposal,
 
As an additional information, new advisors were assigned and introduced.
They are Mr. Yukio Shiina, Chairperson of Abiko City Assembly,
         Ms. Masako Serizawa, Head of General Affair/Planning Panel .
Now that all the items of plans and proposals were approved .
In due course, the General Assembly for the year of FY2018 was closed along with closing remarks by Ms. Rosalie.
After the hours of activated discussion in General Assembly,  there took place relaxing time of “Tea Party” which was presided over by Mr. Kouichiro Beppu who just finished serving as the manager of Study & Culture Dept. All the people gathering in the tea party enjoyed entertaining music (piano performance, traditional flute playing) and chattering with other people .  All schedules were completed and the meeting was closed at 1500 hours  It was a productive day for AIRA.
