In the hall and gallery of Abiko Civic plaza, one of the authorized NPO “Shukatsu Support Center (Support for Making Ready for Life-Ending)” held a Shukatsu event named "The autumn cultural festival of Shukatsu University", with the theme of "Let’s make senior life more fruitful !" (September 5, 2016)

AIRA set a booth to recommend for participating in activities to the elderly who are interested in international exchange, and for learning foreign languages as part of lifelong learning. In the hall, a lecture on Shukatsu was held, which involved funeral, inheritance and donation, grave, nursing care, and so on.

In the gallery, traders concerned consulted people at the respective booth installed. Sixteen people visited the AIRA booth, seven of them particularly showed strong interest in foreign language courses. Some words were expressed by them such as, "As I let my 3-year-old child learn English, I have to learn it too.", “As my daughter lives in Sweden and married to a Swede, I like to learn English so I can talk with them.”, “My husband stays at home all day long, so I want him study any language”, and others.

At a part of the hall, a movie was shown titled "Under a Sakura tree" (Directed by Kei Tanaka), whose theme is the life of elderly people who live alone in an apartment complex.    (No.16-15 Translated by S. Komatsu)
