AIRA had started a volunteer Spanish language class in early 2016, named Spanish Salon. Celebrating the New Year’s first class, a potluck party was held in the latter half hour of the class. (No.16-31)
Date/time: Saturday, January 28, 2017 3:00pm-5:00pm
Venue: Civic Plaza, Room 1
Members: Mrs. Ena Sano of El Salvador and 7 students
On the table various kinds of novelties were set, such as Pupusa made by Ms. Sano, Spanish omelet (tortilla), chocolate from Dubai, Californian wine, and others. With the comfortable tune of Portuguese ethnic music Fado in the back, members enjoyed chatting each other.
Pupusa is one of the well-known national cuisines in El Salvador. The recipe is as follows. First place beans, cheese, chopped poke, etc. onto the batter made of corn powder, then make it flat and round and heat thoroughly. The finish resembles Oyaki. Some huge strawberries were too big to take a bite. All students looked happy with the Latin ethnical party.
