Date and Time: November 20.(Fri),2020 16:00 ~ 18:00
Venue: Abiko Civic Plaza Meeting Room 1
Instructor: Ms.Nami Higurashi
Participants: Eight people including one foreigner and staff members in charge of AIRA Cultural Class (Ms.Kaku, Ms.Osaki, Ms.Aburano and Ms.Komiyama)
Although all the activities are likely to shrink due to COVID-19 now, it will be inevitable to try to coexist and live together with the novel coronavirus. AIRA held the Cultural Class taking full preventive measures against COVID-19 such as minimizing the number of participants, etc.
Ms.Nami Higurashi gave necessary instructions and guidance. She is an expert of craft making using dried flowers as the material, whose colors and/or fragrances you can enjoy.
This time, all the participants made horizontal flower arrangements which can be hung on a wall as Christmas decoration. They used dried materials such as roses, strawflowers, amaranthes, branches of white birch, himuro cedar, hiba, pine cone and so on. Flowers and green leaves were stuck on the branches of white birch with a glue gun.
Ms.Higurashi walked around the room giving such instructions as “Fill up the space with the leaves.” “Use up all the flowers.” “Arrange the branches so that they are curved not in the same direction.” In this way all the participants completed wonderful flower arrangements which showed each person’s character in the shape, arrangement of leaves and flowers, the way of the three-dimensional formation, etc.
Ms. Higurashi belongs to a company named “HANADECO” and holds a workshop once in every two months at Shinjuku Tokyu Hands. She is also active in participating in the event of “Yokohama Hand-Made Marche 2020”. This time, she kindly extended cooperation to the AIRA Cultural Class, which is one of the volunteer activities of AIRA.
