Place: Chuo Gakuin University
AIRA’s presenter: Y. Hesaki, Chief of Volunteer Section
One of the CGU’s causes named Volunteer Activity Course conducted by Professor Juichi Yamada in the commercial science faculty intends to motivate their students to participate in local events on volunteer basis. We presented AIRA’s activities in the class to encourage the students for participating the events.
Using a screen he showed our annual activities to the 11 students attended. Of them, two major events, “the Abiko International Festival” and “the Abiko International Open-Air Art Exhibition (AIOE)” appeared to be suitable for the student to take part in as volunteers. He explained them in detail particularly the working process in the preparatory stage such as the plan setting, working group meeting, and the preparation handling at the event site.
Certain number of CGU students, mainly those of foreign students, have periodically attended on the private basis the AIRA’s events such as the International Speech Contest, lecture on dressing Kimonos, preparation works at sales booths, etc. in the Abiko International Festival. He told the students that regardless of the foreign language abilities there were many opportunities to be involved in international activities, appealing them to attend and experience volunteer activities in the regional society.
