Venue: Meeting Room #2, Abiko Civic Plaza
Participants: 4 International students, 4 Russian Language Salon members
(No.24-19)
International students from the former Soviet Union studying at a Japanese language school in Matsudo City visited our Russian Language Salon at AIRA to join the third exchange meeting with our salon members following those held in May and in June this year.
This time, the four international students, including one who attended the first meeting, introduced themselves and talked about their motivations to learn Japanese, their hobbies, etc.
Our salon members asked questions about the Japanese pop culture and so on, which are hot topics among young people in their home countries. The international students then explained to us the latest situations with their own impressions. We also heard an unexpected comment from them: “We ourselves are surprised by the dizzying changes in the interests of young people in our home countries.”
Through this exchange meeting, we felt that the existence and activities of the Russian Language Salon are gaining some recognition among international students.
This awareness reminded us of the hope that our salon would like to continue the exchange with the international students in order to build the mutually beneficial relationship.
At the end of the meeting, the international students expressed their hope to participate in future exchange meetings if they have another opportunity, and they also offered some suggestions for more active activities.
