AIRA Dispatches Interpreters for Japan Bird Festival 2016
Japan Bird Festival 2016 with the common theme “People and birds living in harmony” was held widely at Abista, Bird Museum, Yamashina Institute for Ornithology, Teganuma Aquatic Park, etc., in Abiko city where people, birds and cultures are harmonized. For this annual event AIRA dispatched volunteer interpreters to foreign exhibitors’ booths on request from the organizers.
AIRA Bus Tour to Naritasan and its vicinity
A bus tour named “The tour for experiencing Samurai houses and townscape in Edo era- appreciating autumn at Boso-no-Mura Village” was held on the Culture Day, Nov. 3rd 2016, as part of “Culture Seminar for foreign residents” organized by the AIRA Culture and Study Section.
Lecture on “Germany 2016” – Cultural Study Class
As one of “Learning about Foreign Culture” study series, a lecture was held on the theme “German culture and recent living environment in Germany” by Mr. Joerg Roth from Germany, instructor of AIRA German Conversation Salon.
Mr. Roth gave his speech in Japanese as follows.
The 19th AIOE-Abiko International Open-Air Art Exhibition was kicked off by an opening ceremony at the ex-Inoue residence on October 22, 2016. Following an opening address by Mr. Komaba, chief of the executive committee, congratulatory speeches were given by Mr. Aoki, vice mayor and Mr. Imai, prefectural assembly member. Then art creators including several foreign artists were also introduced. Mr. Hesaki and Mr. Sato interpreted these speeches on the spot.
